Bournemouth and The Area
Bournemouth is not only well known as the warmest and the most popular holiday resort in England, but also as a world centre for the teaching of English as a second and foreign language.
The town is situated in the south-east corner of Dorset, just over 90 minutes by train from London and within easy reach of the most beautiful places in the south:
-
Poole, Christchurch, the great port of Southampton, Beaulieu National Motor Museum, the prehistoric Stonehenge, the old historic towns of Portsmouth, Salisbury and Winchester (once the capital of England).
-
At the heart of this area is the New Forest National Park: 90,000 acres of partly wooded land, founded by William the Conqueror as a hunting ground and now property of the Crown.
-
This unspoilt area has remained like this for centuries and even today one can see hundreds of wild ponies and other animals roaming at will.
